Nvidia, the chip designer, has announced plans to invest up to $500bn in artificial intelligence infrastructure in the US over the next four years. The announcement comes after US President Donald Trump threatened to impose tariffs on semiconductors, most of which Nvidia makes in Taiwan. Nvidia's chips have played a significant role in driving the recent wave of AI development. The company will work with its manufacturing partners to design and build factories so it can create "supercomputers" completely within the US.
